Supporting People with Learning Disabilities.
The Orbit club is a day club for people with varying degrees of learning disabilities. The club is run twice a week, Monday and Thursday between the hours of 10.30am and 2.30pm. The Club is at the Crownhill family centre, Near the crownhill police station. Crownhill Fort Rd, Plymouth PL6 5BX
There are 4 staff who work in the club, volunteers are also encouraged to join, currently we have only one volunteer, who assist in helping with the day to day activities.
While some members are independent and are able to come on their own, others may require additional assistance or care and will need to be accompanied by a PA or carer.
The reason for this is simple; a large part of the Orbit staff duties is to entertain the members, which is what makes this club so special;
its entertainment value.
Anyone wishing to attend the club, or would like any more information, Please Contact the Social club manager on 07564 625638 or 01752 753717
The activities which are available include a live music session with singing and dancing, karaoke and playing percussion instruments, anyone who wishes to can join in including carers.
We have bingo, a wide variety of table games, which include table skittles, darts, Jenga and tin can alley game which is a big favourite with a lot of orbit club user’s. On the other hand anyone can simply do their own thing if they so wish, drawing, playing dominoes, jigsaw puzzles and other table games or just socialising and having a chat to friends.
The cost is £14.00 a day or £8.00 for half a day as there are those who wish to come just for the music session.
Everyone who comes for the day will need to bring a packed lunch, but there is tea and biscuits also available on arrival.
